The Gentrys got their start in Memphis, TN in 1963. The original group was made up of seven members: Bruce Bowles, Bobby Fisher, Jimmy Hart, Jimmy Johnson, Pat Neal, Larry Raspberry, and Larry Wall. Their debut album climbed into the Top 100 and the group enjoyed minor success until 1966 when the band broke up. Original member Jimmy Hart decided to resurrect the band in 1969.
